{ on discussing our feelings }

This past weekend was bad for everyone.

We were all running on high emotion and exhaustion and anxiety and lack of patience.

And, as happens with children, Turtle picked up on all the negative energy.

Predictably, it made things a little more difficult.

But after some sleep and deep breathing, we were able to all kind of get it together today and we were able to start talking things out.

Turtle is at a very imaginative age. When he gets talking, what comes out of his mouth is nothing short of amazing.

The conversation last night was extremely special, especially in light of everything that is going on.

We all cuddled up and asked him what was going on.

He told us he was angry.

Ok. That's fair. We asked him to tell us why.

He took a moment. And then he told us about the snakes. He was angry at the snakes.

Also very reasonable. I harbor horrible rage towards all snakes.

These snakes, though? They are apparently in our house.

Downstairs.

Playing with his toys. And opening the oven.

And. Are you ready for this?

Making. Pies.

Jerks. Who does that?

Quite frankly, I'm a little angry, too, because I have searched our kitchen very thoroughly and nary a pie is to be found. Although, I guess I should be grateful that these pie-making snakes cleaned up the kitchen.

I just can't figure out how they managed it. Seeing as how snakes don't have arms or hands.

It's going to bug the hell out of me, though.

I bet they made something glorious. Like cherry pie. And now I'm even more angry because I want some.

Hopefully, now that we've cleared up the source of his anger, we'll be able to move forward and have a better day.

And maybe, there will be pie.
