Recipe: Wing-a-Ding-Ding

I have a weird relationship with wings.

I don't like meat on a bone. I don't like eating with my hands. I don't like my fingers getting dirty. Really... wings were not created with me in mind.

However, that was before I became a regular at Bru's Room. If you happen to be near one (by which I mean, within 100 miles), you must go. Order the BBQ wings, all flats, dry and extra crispy. You won't be sorry. Also get the jalepeno poppers with a side of ranch.

When we moved, Bru's was no longer an option, and good wings are hard to find.

MacGyver, once pointed in the right direction to a good frozen wing by his buddy K, came up with a semi-decent Bru's replacement. We can't replicate the ranch, but I'll get there one day.

Drain some thawed Tyson wing pieces. They come already separated so that I don't have to mess with raw poultry.

Toss the pieces in your favorite wing sauce. Or get your husband to do it. We used Sonny's Sweet Sauce. I hear Frank's is good, too.

Line a baking sheet with foil and coat with nonstick spray. Line up your little wing pieces on the foil and bake for about an hour at 350*F.

Remove from foil while still hot to prevent sticking.

Throw them all back in the bowl and toss with more wing sauce.

This photo is not blurry. It's an action shot. MacGyver really got into his tossing.

Fire up the grill and place those wings over the fire. Give them about five minutes on each side (or less) for maximum crispiness.

Plate 'em up with your favorite dipping sauce.

Personally, I like to alternate between bleu cheese and ranch. What's your favorite?

PS - these wings are fantastic. No butter, no frying, nothing but chicken and the sauce of your choosing. A totally guiltless game time snack. Enjoy!
