Review: AJ's Jams and Jellies

The last time I saw my friend Lois, she handed me a little jar and informed me that she had started making her own jams and jellies.

Yum.

Interestingly enough, she mentioned that she had gotten the idea after tasting garlic jelly at a fair, and, as a self-professed garlic-a-holic, wondering if she could replicate it on her own. Guess what? She did.

And so AJ's Jams & Jellies was born.

The jar she gave us was of Pineapple-Coconut.

With all the holiday hustle and bustle, we really didn't have a chance to break the seal. And then McGyver wanted to make crepes for breakfast. As we were debating the merits of filled or unfilled, I remembered this little jar and presented it for consideration.

Remember how I said "Yum." before?

Yum. (Clearly, the Pineapple-Coconut is on the left)

AJ's Pineapple-Coconut jam is superb. Not only is the flavor perfect (just the right sweetness), but there are chunks of real pineapple and tons of coconut shreds. You can tell it's all fresh and all natural, and quite frankly, Smuckers is now dead to me.

AJ's Jams & Jellies boasts old classics like strawberry and apple, and new originals like candy apple, red wine and white zinfandel. Custom flavors are available upon request. They are all natural, made with no water, no fillers, no Karo syrup, no artificial color, no artificial flavorings and no preservatives.

That's probably why they taste so damn good.

AJ's Jams & Jellies is currently taking orders by email (AJs.jams@gmail.com). An 8oz jar will run you $5, but if you buy four jars, you get the fifth free. It's a great way to give all those unique flavors a try.

Enjoy!
